OBJECTIVOS - OBJECTIVES
O centro visa promover a investigação artística, cientifica, tecnológica e interdisciplinar (em estreita relação com a Arte, a Engenharia, a Geografia, a História, a Filosofia e as Ciências Sociais e Humanas) nos domínios da arquitectura, construção, design, urbanística e áreas afins a partir de uma visão integrada da disciplina em estreita relação com a didáctica e as práticas de projecto de arquitectura e planeamento urbano da Escola do Porto.
The center aims to promote artistic, scientific, technological and interdisciplinary research (in close relationship with Art, Engineering, Geography, History, Philosophy and Social and Human Sciences) in the fields of architecture, construction, design, urban planning and related areas from an integrated vision of the discipline in close relationship with the didactics and project practices of architecture and urban planning of the School of Porto.
DESCRIÇÃO - DESCRIPTION
O centro encontra-se sediado na Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade do Porto (FAUP) em instalações próprias desenhada para o desenvolvimento de actividades de investigação avançada na área da arquitectura e urbanística. Possui salas-atelier para os grupos de investigação e respectivos projectos em curso, assim como para integrar investigadores individuais que desenvolvam acções de pesquisa em estreita correlação com a actividade do centro.
No total, o centro integra 197 investigadores, dos quais 82 são investigadores integrados. A maioria dos investigadores não doutorados desenvolve a sua formação no Programa de Doutoramento em Arquitectura da FAUP em relação estreita com o CEAU.
Ainda que o domínio de investigação original do CEAU seja a Arquitectura e o Urbanismo, o centro integra e recebe investigadores de outras áreas disciplinares, designadamente, a Antropologia, a Arqueologia, a Economia, a Engenharia, a Geografia, a História e a Sociologia.
O centro estrutura-se em oito grupos de investigação com a seguinte tematização: Arquitectura: Teoria, Projecto, História (ATPH); Arquitectura e Modos de Habitar (AMH); Atlas da Casa (AdC); Arte, Arquitectura e Imagem (AAI); Laboratório de Fabricação Digital (DFL); Morfologias e Dinâmicas do Território (MDT); Património da Arquitectura, da Cidade e do Território (PACT); Teoria e Práticas de Projecto (T2P).
The center is based at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto (FAUP) in its own premises designed for the development of advanced research activities in the area of architecture and urban planning. It has studio-rooms for the research groups and their ongoing projects, as well as for integrating individual researchers who develop research actions in close correlation with the center’s activity.
In total, the Centre integrates 197 researchers, of which 82 are integrated researchers with PhDs. Most of the non-professional researchers develop their training in the PhD Programme in Architecture of FAUP in close relationship with CEAU.
Although the original field of research of the CEAU is Architecture and Urbanism, the center integrates and receives researchers from other disciplines, namely, Anthropology, Archaeology, Economy, Engineering, Geography, History and Sociology.
The center is structured in eight research groups with the following themes: Architecture: Theory, Project, History (ATPH); Architecture and Habitation Modes (AMH); Atlas of the House (AdC); Art, Architecture and Image (AAI); Digital Fabrication Laboratory (DFL); Morphologies and Dynamics of the Territory (MDT); Heritage of Architecture, the City and the Territory (PACT); Theory and Project Practices (T2P).
